Thur Jul 15

DH and I went on the So Calif Quilt Shop Run.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  To get a good start we stayed in Orange county the night before.

D - in Orange - B and J ate out - had BBQ at a place that also had axe throwing!  The food was okay.  Started off poorly as the waiter said several times he would get the menus to us - but brought drinks by.  At one of his check ins he asked if we needed anything and I said we needed the menus.  He then pointed to a QR code on the table that I hadn't noticed and said that was the menu. But (since I was so old and wouldn't know how to use my phone for the menu) he would get the menus to us.  He finally brought some by, but by then we had it up on the phones.

Stayed in an awful hotel.  Best Western Plus Meridian Inn & Suites, Anaheim-Orange. The carpeting was old, the furniture in the bedrooms was old too.  It wasn't very clean - when we returned from dinner I notice old water bottles under the bed! They made show of having people return their keys to a tub of alcohol, but the tub and toilet weren't completely fresh either. Pre-covid I think we would have refused the room, but instead we just sprayed lysol everywhere before we touched it. We thought it was better to stay put rather than expose ourselves to more germs somewhere else.

Friday July 16

am - still did my telephone chat/walk with Penelope in the morning while DH slept in.  Happens the hotel was across the street from Memory Lane Park with a walking path that went by a golf course.

So Calif Quilt Shop Run Day 1 - We went to:

#2 Quilt Emporium www.quiltemporium.com

L - We had Fast food Japanese at a little place in the same center as The Quilt Emporium in Woodland Hills

So much traffic.  We couldn't make it to any other shops before they closed.

Stayed in a Comfort Inn in Redlands, it was very nice.  Still had water faucets turned off and no breakfast (they said because of covid rules).

D - Ate at a Jamaican Restaurant in Redlands - I had chicken salad - chicken was on rice and beans on lettuce.

Sat July 17

B - Went to a lovely restaurant in Redlands.  We were there early enough to not have to stand in line for a table.  The food was good -the bakery had great choices.

D - Ate in the patio of a Brigantines in Escondido.  Very lovely. The hotel gave us a card so we got appetizer for no fee!

Stayed in a wonderful Best Western in Escondido.  Clean, up to date, had breakfast too.  Instead of scooping up food they had breakfast sandwiches in little bags, and muffins sealed in bags, etc. so no one would be breathing on the food.

Sun July 18

#12 Inspirations Quilt Shop inspired2quilt.com

Went to Bate's Nut Farm for some nuts and dates - DH's first time there!  I had taken DS there with and without my Father for pumpkin picking and hay rides.  It was way fancier than I remembered it....

#13 Quilt in a Day www.quiltinaday.com

#14 Cozy's Creative Center www.cozyquilt.com  This is my 'home' shop.  Always wonderful selections, and the owner has/had great demos and events to attend.  So nice to go there in person, but we were rather tired so I didn't buy anything there this time.  Only turned in our cards for the prize drawings.  Fingers crossed that we win something!
